All content, which includes modeling job leads, is traceable, and we verify web traffic and the source of our information. Independent Modeling is a resource site for independent and agency-represented models who wish to enhance the marketability of their modeling careers, as well as have an advantage over limited models; those limited models being agency-only models who do not think for themselves, do not invest in their career, and allow modeling agencies to manage them, and to tell them what to do. Other limited models include models who try to put together competent professional modeling portfolios for free, using TFP, and who try to compete against professional models with cheap career tools. The independent models who use Independent Modeling are smart, professional models who know enough that to have an advantage over other models, that they have to invest in their careers. Independent Modeling is NOT a modeling and talent agency, and we do not claim to be. We do not directly refer models into modeling jobs for financial compensation, and do not represent models. Independent Modeling is not intended to be used for any advice, which includes legal advice, and any advice which can only be legally given by a licensed professional in a regulated profession. Guy With Camera, or GWC, also known as “Guy With a Camera”. Not to be confused with amateur photographers who aspire to become professional photographers, and who are working hard toward that goal, a GWC is an amateur pretending to be a professional photographer, or is someone with a camera trying to take pictures of models or attractive women for the wrong reasons. GWC’s are unethical, and unprofessional, and will hurt or destroy the careers of legitimate models who are tricked, or otherwise convinced, to work with them. Many GWC’s are unable to make photography a business, and have no business working with new models or giving them instruction. GWC’s who do high-risk work such as glamour, boudoir, who take pictures of models in skimp bikinis or in provocative poses often do so to leer at the models in the pictures, and for self pleasuring. It’s pathetic.
A GWC is an amateur photographer with unprofessional motives or an unprofessional mindset. They are often hobby photographers with self esteem problems, and are neurotic and insecure. Models run the risk of being harmed and stalked by working with GWC’s.
Stick with professional photographers, to minimize your risks. These are photographers with experience, a portfolio, a real web site with an associated, relevant domain name (usually a .Com reflecting the business branding), professional experience, and who books paying work and can demonstrate a history of booking paid photography work working with models (usually modeling portfolio photography, talent headshots, or commercial print photography). If an amateur, aspiring photographer wants to work with a professional model, the amateur need so to pay the model, and even then , unless a model specializes in high-risk modeling, high-risk work needs to be avoided.
