10/11/12 - Although we are published out of the Tampa Bay, Florida, area, Independent Modeling is an international modeling resource site, and our featured models can be from anywhere in the world. Featured models will be categorized in geographic locations relevant to the geographically organized category on our modeling job board.
As of 11 October, 2012, in an effort to get this new Independent Modeling site online and operational, many of the functions of the site have been placed on standby, as this is a large site, and it is going to take time to get the site up to speed. The Featured Model section is offline until further notice, but we are working on getting it online later in 2012, hopefully before the world is supposed to end (obviously, this is our attempt at humor, because if we actually expected the world to end this year, we would not bother doing all of this work).
This Featured Model section, which ties in directly with our advanced modeling job board and other sections of the site, is to promote featured independent models using Independent Modeling as a direct marketing platform. Far more than just a listing of models, such as the model listing which has been maintained on the original version of our sister site Florida Models, and far more than a portfolio networking site profile, the Featured Model section is an online platform where models can post their stats, their resume, and their printable Web Comp (TM), kind of like a synopsis of a web site here on Independent Modeling. They can also link to their web site (terms and conditions apply).
The profiles here on the Featured Model section link directly to the modeling job board, so modeling jobs will be looking here to consider our featured models for the jobs that they post. This means that our featured models will have an advantage over other models who are responding to the job posts.
Independent Modeling is directly affiliated with Tampa Bay photography and design company Aurora PhotoArts, Tampa Shootouts, Tampa Workshops, and the Tampa Bay Photography Society professional photography association, as well as Frontier Event Planning and Frontier Event Planning. As such, our Web Comps, which are an Aurora PhotoArts property, are created for our featured models by Aurora PhotoArts. Clients of Aurora PhotoArts must use Aurora PhotoArts pictures. Models who are accepted through a promotion must have the rights to use their images for integration into their Web Comps, and the photographer or copyright holder must be approved by us before we will add their property to one of our Web Comps (obviously, anyone credited on Web Comp for an image is promoted, and promoting a direct competitor of Aurora PhotoArts or Independent Modeling, especially is the competitor is designated as hostile, is a conflict of interest. We also refuse to promote anyone who we are not comfortable promoting, and will not promote obvious modeling scams, anyone with questionable ethics, model placement companies, model managers, and modeling agencies).
For phase one of our Featured Model section, we are limiting models to models who are clients of Aurora PhotoArts, either directly or through Tampa Shootouts, as well as models who are accepted through any special promotion, which are limited time offers where we are very selective.
Florida models will have modeling adjusted profiles cross posted on our sister sites, the ones which are relevant to their area. This would be Florida Models by default, as well as Tampa Bay Modeling if the model is available to work in the Tampa Bay area. Their Web Comps would be formatted for the relevant site, so a Tampa Bay model would have three different Web Comps, one for Independent Modeling, one for Florida Models, and one for Tampa Bay Modeling. Host site branding will enable models to track which site most of their jobs are coming from, and which ones are most effective.

BE A FEATURED MODEL ON INDEPENDENT MODELING

For the initial phase, we require that models which are featured on this site be clients of Aurora PhotoArts, or which are accepted through one of our upcoming promotions. We ar directly affiliated with Aurora PhotoArts. To be a client of Aurora PhotoArts, you can be considered for a free Featured Model profile any of the following ways.

Aurora PhotoArts Tampa Bay Photography and Design
Specializing in modeling portfolio photography, modeling portfolios, model testing, composite cards, and everything that a professional independent model needs to be competitive in their modeling career.

1. Be a client of Aurora PhotoArts, with at least a three look modeling portfolio. You will need to book a shoot, obviously, and this is not free, as it is a career investment. Modeling portfolio photography sessions are guaranteed for quality, as the point of investing in a modeling portfolio is to have a portfolio which is relevant, and effective, in the marketing of your modeling career, and, again, Independent Modeling is directly affiliated with Aurora PhotoArts.

Tampa Shootouts
Where professionals collaborate and inspire. The professional standard in modeling photography shootout events, workshops, and related events. Operated out of the Tampa Bay area.

2. Be evaluated for a modeling job by Aurora PhotoArts by attending, and participating with, one of the free Tampa Shootouts events, which are used as a working audition for evaluating models for jobs. This is for established professional models, only, models with a portfolio, composite cards, and a work history, but it is free.

3. Once we get Independent Modeling fully operational, we plan on having some special promotions, where you can be added to the site as a featured model, free of charge. Aurora PhotoArts will create a Web Comp for you, also free of charge. This is limited to established professional models, however, and you have to have a current modeling portfolio and a real web site with a domain name to be considered. Pictures submitted to be integrated into the Web Comp have to be cleared, and the model must have permission and the rights to use those photographs. Also, we will be picky about which models who we will accept. More details will be revealed once we begin our promotions.

We do not represent any of the models featured on Independent Modeling; the models represent themselves and manage their own careers. The opinions expressed on Independent Modeling may not be shared by featured models, and models may not be directly affiliated with Independent Modeling or our staff. Some models have elected to have contact screened through our free screening service.
