Independent Modeling is a resource site for independent and agency-represented models who wish to enhance the marketability of their modeling careers, as well as have an advantage over limited models; those limited models being agency-only models who do not think for themselves, do not invest in their career, and allow modeling agencies to manage them, and to tell them what to do. Other limited models include models who try to put together competent professional modeling portfolios for free, using TFP, and who try to compete against professional models with cheap career tools. The independent models who use Independent Modeling are smart, professional models who know enough that to have an advantage over other models, that they have to invest in their careers. Independent Modeling is NOT a modeling and talent agency, and we do not claim to be. We do not directly refer models into modeling jobs for financial compensation, and do not represent models. Independent Modeling, though our affiliated company Aurora PhotoArts, offers modeling portfolio photography services in the Tampa Bay market in Florida. These services are guaranteed for quality. Aurora PhotoArts has been specializing in modeling portfolio photography, modeling portfolios, composite card design, and model testing since 2001. Of course, models are not obligated to buy any services from Aurora PhotoArts in order to use Independent Modeling. Independent Modeling, of course, was started by Aurora PhotoArts back in 2001 to help models and to maintain balance and integrity in the modeling industry, because we genuinely care about models and the industry! We care about you!

Modeling portfolio photography is important for the career of any model. Professional independent freelance models know that they are only as good as their marketing tools, and that they cannot cut corners on their modeling portfolio. In order to be able to compete with other models for modeling jobs, they have to invest in quality, effective, relevant portfolios, especially as their competition is also investing in quality, relevant portfolios. Models who try to do their own portfolios, or try to use portfolios built with TFP and step to real models who are using real professional portfolios, will not be able to compete, and will not book any work. The smarter, more serious models will take work away from them. It’s as it should be, as survival of the fittest is alive and well in the cut throat, ultra-competitive modeling industry.
The entire point of modeling portfolio is to make the model as marketable as possible, and therefor, as compatible with as many potential modeling jobs as possible. This is why it is important to invest in a modeling portfolio with a professional photographer, or photography company, which really specializes in modeling portfolio photography, and can show that in their portfolio. The modeling portfolio photographer has to know what they are doing. Wedding photographers, portrait photographers, and event photographers won’t be able to give models what they need. Neither will amateur photographers and pretend-photographers, also known as GWC’s (Guy With Camera), who overstate their qualifications and mislead people (deception, misrepresentation, and misleading others in marketing is fraud, and would make the responsible party a scam). Many budget and amateur photographers can be dangerous for the career of the model, too, as they will try to get the model to do things that will make them less marketable, or even cripple their marketability.
This is why most models should avoid high-risk modeling work. For maximum marketability, portfolios need to be clean, professional, relevant for the jobs that the model is trying to book, and family-friendly. Most business will not book models into jobs when the models has tastelss, trashy work out there.
