Independent Modeling is a resource site for independent and agency-represented models who wish to enhance the marketability of their modeling careers, as well as have an advantage over limited models; those limited models being agency-only models who do not think for themselves, do not invest in their career, and allow modeling agencies to manage them, and to tell them what to do. Other limited models include models who try to put together competent professional modeling portfolios for free, using TFP, and who try to compete against professional models with cheap career tools. The independent models who use Independent Modeling are smart, professional models who know enough that to have an advantage over other models, that they have to invest in their careers. Independent Modeling is NOT a modeling and talent agency, and we do not claim to be. We do not directly refer models into modeling jobs for financial compensation, and do not represent models. Composite card design and printing services are offered at a discount for model clients of Aurora PhotoArts, such as models whom invest in a modeling portfolio photography session, as the composite cards are an additional service extension of that service; models have to invest in a portfolio of at least five looks before even thinking about obtaining composite cards. Comp cards are only as good as the portfolio of the model, as composite cards are like a highlight card of the overall current portfolio of the model.
Models who do not invest in a professional modeling portfolio and composite cards will not be able to compete with professional models who do invest in professional, relevant tools. It’s that simple. Modeling is a business, a model is business with the brand being the model’s name, and all businesses have to be marketed. A business which skimps on it marketing or does things which is a conflict with its target market will not be able to compete, as you only get out of a business what you put into it. With composite cards, which are required to market the career of the model, first impressions are everything, and you also have to have professionally relevant, effective portfolio pictures to put on the composite card, as it serves as both an introduction and as a summary of the overall modeling portfolio. Avoid cheap comp card and composite cards printed on flimsy stock and laser copied. Composite cards should be printed on paper stock of at least 12 PT, using a vibrant 4/4 color process and UV coated for quality.
