Have you seen the information and any other content on this site anywhere
else? Is anyone like a model consultant, photographer, model manager, or any
other “professional” in the modeling industry trying to sell our
material to you? Are they trying to use our material as part of a pitch to
sell you something while claiming that they are affiliated with us?
While referring professionals to our site and quoting us while communicating
that we are the source is fine, the theft and misrepresentation of
our property is NOT and will NOT be tolerated. Additionally,
if anyone claims to be affiliated with us in any way and it is not confirmable
on this site, please check in with us.
Misrepresenting an affiliation with us is FRAUD, and it may lead to
prosecution!
You ARE what you DO, as well as who you associate with. Actions define character.
If anyone is ripping us off, they WILL DO IT TO YOU, too!
Help yourself and the integrity of the modeling industry by helping us put
a stop to the theft and resale of our information.
There have been reports of so-called model consultants stealing information
from our sites, which is available for models free-of-charge, and then trying
to sell it to models while claiming it is their own. We are now dealing with
this, and legal action may follow.
People without
ethics, professionalism, and integrity will violate the rights of others when
they feel that it will benefit them. Sometimes, perception will cause them
to disregard potential consequences, and they will do as they please regardless
of if it is right or wrong. Web sites are often seen as an inferior medium
to print, and there are those who feel that copyrights do not apply to content
on web sites, as the web is seen as being less professional than print. This,
of course, is not the case.
Independent Modeling has been the victim of outright theft of our intellectual
property several times since we launched on September 4, 2001. Some of those
who have stolen from us were other web sites, but in many cases we have evidence
of photographers who have openly plagiarized our content as a way of enhancing
their credibility with models. These same photographers have slandered
this site, too, primarily as a way of covering their tracks. These photographers
have attacked this site
and have attempted to discredit the same information on it that they also
happen to use and claim as their own. Many of them are jealous of our outstanding
reputations as professionals and because we have a louder, more respected
voice than they could ever hope to have. In some cases, these photographers
are malicious because they are running some sort of scam or are doing unethical
things that we have openly questioned and have made them accountable for.
While we do not mind teaching professionals in the industry, we have a big
issue with those who are out to take what they can from us and present it
as their own experience and knowledge. We have already taken legal action
against some so-called professionals who have stolen from us, and reserve
the right to take legal action against those who violate our rights and disrespect
the rights of those professionals who use our site legitimately.
As of now, we are running an active campaign to aggressively discourage plagiarism
and theft from our web site. If you know of anyone who has stolen from our
web site, please let us know about it; by helping us and this site, you help
the future of the modeling industry and ultimately your own career. All of
the Independent Sites are designed to have free versions of all of the more
advanced content and tools which can be found in our paid membership sections.
Our sites are intended to help legitimate professionals regardless of whether
they are paying members or not. We intend to keep the free areas of our sites
updated and full of the best information and tools which can be offered at
no charge; although none of the free content can touch the more advanced content
which is made available to paid memberships, what is offered for free is better
than 99% of what any modeling school, modeling book, model consultant, model
manager, or modeling agency has to offer. What we offer for free often beats
what others try to charge you for, which is a good reason that they try to
take what they can from us and try to sell it back to models. We need your
help to keep areas of our sites free so we can continue to help as many models
and modeling industry professionals as possible. Remember those who steal
from us disrespect all professionals in the industry, including you, and that
they are hurting you when they try to hurt us.
Being a professional is much more than making money. It is also how you conduct your career, and it is what you do and say. You are what you do and who you associate with. If someone steals from us and lies, they will do the same to you, as it is their character and is in their nature. Those who use the word integrity the most are often those who only know it as a word and don't back it up with what they do.
